Just a short recap of last week’s store signing at A-1 Comics in Sacramento. To be honest, I really needed to pimp the hell out of this thing (sending out a Facebook Cool Jerk Group invite, for example). Maybe coordinate with an area taco truck (like my signing in September). Maybe just plan out more than two weeks in advance. Lesson learned.

BUT— it was a lot of fun! I was only there for three hours but I got to hang out with fellow cartoonist Chris Wisnia, who dropped in to talk smack with me! Also, Jeff Kenoyer and his boy Alex came by — Hodabeast, Chickadoowa and sketchbook in hand — to get Bimboozled and catch up with me. Awesome! I haven’t seen Jeff since high school days (he’s my buddy Jay Kenoyer‘s younger brother) and I hadn’t met Alex, although I was warned he’s a big-time Cool Jerk aficionado. I also met and chatted with a bunch of other area comics fans who will soon join my ever-expanding legion of sleeper agents.

Sacramento, I shall return! Thanks again to Brian Peets (and Joe & Joey) for being such awesome hosts!

I’ll be signing at House of Secrets on Wednesday, January 20 from 11 am until the store closes at 8:30 pm. Owners Erik and Paul were gracious enough to give me the green light to stink up their store for a day, allowing me to sell my full library of Cool Jerk and Doc Splatter books IN PERSON. What better way to meet a comic creator than to drop some folding money and get a book (or three) personalized to you with a signature and sketch?

House of Secrets is located at 1930 Olive Ave. in beautiful Burbank (home of Bob Hope and the potato ball). See you there!

So, what’re you doing the day before the Super Bowl? Well, if you live within 400-500 miles of San Diego, you OUGHTA be at Rising Sun Creations for an in-store book signing! It’s true! Fellow cartoonist/comics creator Ryan Claytor and I will be hanging with you aficionados Saturday, Feb. 2. Come on by and let me personally sell you a Hodabeast!

Bring your sketchbook and some folding money to Brave New World in Newhall, CA… I’ll be doing an in-person signing there next week, pimping my super-awesome book Hodabeast, Cool Jerk T-shirts and meeting comics fans! It’s true! See me there in the pasty, non-tanned flesh Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007. It’ll be like Comic-Con except A) no cost to get in, and B) it’ll smell nicer! And why Thursday? Well, that’s NEW COMICS DAY, chief (it’s usually every Wednesday but Labor Day will bump shipments to Thursday). The folks at BNW are truly awesome. Their shop was up for an Eisner Award this year (Spirit of Comics Retailing category) and they’ve been loving Cool Jerk long time. So if you’re in a 300-mile radius of the Magic Mountain area, come by!

Mark your calendars, crew! On December 10, 2005, I’ll be at Comickaze (5517 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego) with three other local heroes of the San Diego indy comics scene… like a nano-comic-con! From 1-5pm, we — Ryan Claytor (Elephant Eater Comics), Shana Manion (Miss Anthropy), and Josep Blas (Space Punks) — will be spreading the gospel of our cool comics and meeting with our local fans. And, as you would expect, we’ll be peddling our wares. Just in time for the holidays, too!

Speaking for myself, I’ll have swell Cool Jerk and Doc Splatter T-shirts for sale, plus ashcan Cool Jerk sampler books and lots of free shwag.
