Wrote this at WonderCon 2012, didn’t get around to drawing it, then Ray Harryhausen died on May 7. Damn.
I met Ray at San Diego Comic-Con in 1999 or 2000. He was incredibly influential to more people than you can imagine, myself included. I hope his afterlife is filled with his stop-motion creations and he rules them all as lord master.
Stand by for action! I was so sad when i heard the news. I saw Ray quite a few times @SDCC. Puppy does resemble Dr. Venus, doctor of space medicine & crew member of Fireball XL-5! Thanks for the memories.
Another reason why we need to see an animated Cool Jerk. MAKE IT HAPPEN!! (I’d also like to see Yuri as a Harryhausen stop-motion character!)
LOL!
@dan: Ray had a full life. I’d rather watch HIS “Clash of the Titans” — even with the lameass mechanical owl — than 10 minutes of the CGI remake.
@Saveur: That would be pretty nutty.
I tell my wife about how Harryhausen’s skeletons used to freak me out as a kid. They totally had a certain style, didn’t they? Current special effects rely too much on nerds working 3D applications.
I don’t know how you come up with this shit. Unbelievable. Cool Jerk is SO underrated!
